Description
The order of operations has a lot more to it than just convention. With notation, we compress operations and minimize numeric values. The order of operations addresses those things. This way we can deal with those operations appropriately without changing the initial values. This packet is designed to help your students intimately understand just that. This packet contains a lot of resources for you, including 2 full lessons, 3 assignments, a bonus PowerPoint, lesson guides and of course reference notes to help promote literacy.
When you download this bundle you’ll receive a zip folder with a Read Me document that organizes all of the documents within, making deploying the lesson easy. (You can see how this document looks from the picture posted below.) The folder also includes a high quality, well organized, animated and easy to learn from and use PowerPoint lesson, a lesson guide (plan), a document with teaching tips for this topic, reference notes to assign for student reading or reference, two homework assignments, and links to internet hosted information aligned with this lesson for student or parent reference. The online information includes videos, online notes, and practice problems from Khan Academy.
As is the case with all of the bundles and lessons from Math Connected, you can use the materials easily in a traditional lesson, a flipped classroom setting, or a virtual classroom. If you assign the notes to be read by the students, they’ll further develop their literacy and experience with technical writing. Either way, they’re a great reference for students.
All of the materials here are aligned in a way that you can support students of various abilities, while providing access to content for review or for absent students, and even parents that want to have access so they can “help,” their child perform well in class.
